Ceramic Pot with Bamboo Spout

Water features are a great, fun asset to any garden space.  They add to a natural setting, attract birds & frogs and provide a cool respite for both you and your visitors.  Add a small fountain and you can also enjoy the sound of moving water! This is an endeavor anyone can undertake. Container features are great for patios, porches and decks.   They can be placed in sun or in shade alike.

As for the container, your imagination has no limits. Find one you like, but ceramic pots should be carefully selected for their ability to withstand the range of temperatures an outdoor, water-bearing container can experience. We have just the pots to suit your needs.

Ceramic Pot with Bamboo Spout

As we mentioned earlier in the What's New section, AW Pottery makes a multitude of high-quality, winter-proof pots and we're a retailer. Come by and pick the pot that's right for you.

The above bamboo spout with pump sells for $40 here at Falling Water Gardens. It's a quick and easy set up. After you've selected you vessel and installed the spout, all that's left to do is add the flora and fauna.

Great plant choices include floaters like hyacinth and water lettuce, or bog plants like dwarf papyrus, bog bean, iris or cattail. Water lilies will also do great in a container garden.

Goldfish like sarasa or shubunkin do great in small gardens, though overpopulating your pot may not be a good idea. They can also eat insect larvae, although container gardens discourage mosquitos from breeding as they don't care for moving water.

You should top off the pot occasionally when evaporation takes hold.  Some plants might need fertilizing. Every few months, it's a good idea to change out a quarter of the water with fresh. At least once a year, give the pot a thorough 100% cleaning and scrubbing.  Algae can be controlled with critters (fish; plants, etc) or with products like Algae Fix that we sell in Monroe. Other than that, your container garden requires little maintenance.  It's the perfect, delicate accent to any garden, large or small.
